Gyumri Artistic Handicraft Center

Gyumri Artistic Handicraft Center is the logical continuation of the project of the Veratsnund Art School. It’s  a renaissance for the city after the earthquake in 1988. The school, situated in Gyumri city, after the name of Jim Cross,  opened on October 18th 2015, is a great opportunity for those who previously has little hope of earning by their skills and abilities.

The project is initiated by Antonio Montalto, Honorary Consul of Italy in Armenia, president of Family Care and Friends of Gyumri Foundations. The aim is to use art as a way of reviving Gyumri and the ceramic handicraft culture that was developed by Armenians of Ottoman Empire, starting from XV century in Kutahya and Iznik.

One of the main steps of the achievments of the goals  was the exhibition in Lyon. The event was organized as part of the global aimed at the promotion of the economic and artistic  powers of Gyumri. 

Organized master classes  with the specialists from abroad will help our craftmen and artists  to develop their skills and abilities and will give them opportunity to create new styles in ceramics and to reproduce the ancient patterns according to tradition and experience.
