About Family Care | Where We Work | Beliefs | Mission Statement | Assistance | Main Achievements | Contact and Help
Founded in 1998, Family Care is a locally registered non-government humanitarian
organisation (NGO) based in Yerevan, Armenia.
The staff have extensive experience in the delivery of emergency relief and longer term development assistance in the Caucasus, particularly in health. This regionally focused work has allowed Family Care to look thoroughly at specific needs of Armenia and Nagorno Karabagh in order to implement appropriate programmes. Through carefully designed work on a local level the organisation has developed support which can bring about lasting positive changes in the lives of people in these regions. Supporting the delivery of effective maternal and child health care services remains the organisation's prime focus.
With prevailing high poverty levels and lack of access for many to satisfactory health care, since 2000 Family Care has widened its programmes to address general Family Health issues. As a continuation of work started in 1994 in the earthquake zone, Family Care gives equal importance to activities which promote cultural development and skills training, for example Family Care's commitment to the ongoing development of the Veratsnund Art School in Spitak, Northern Armenia plus various community/family projects which support local needs.
Family Care's work aims to provide short-term emergency interventions designed to evolve into longer term development, enabling people to ultimately manage and improve their own lives.
